The Department of Information Management is one of cornerstones in the College of Management achieving the mission of education, scholarly, acticities, and services. The Department launched the COM's first Master of Information Management program in 1996 and its first undergraduate program in 1997. Currently the Department cinsists of 14 full-time faclty members. All of them have obtained their Ph.D degrees in related fields and have published research papers in well-recognized academic journals. Moat of our professors have had industry experiences. The Department also owns fourteen general laboratories and hosts three School-level research centers and/or laboratories.
The mission of the Department is to cultivate talents of students and faculty in information management to meet the dynamic needs in enterprises and market. To achieve the objective, the design of curriculum emphasizes the promotion of critical thinking, analytical skills, management know-hows, professional competence, and leadership development.
The faculty recognize the needs of the modern corporates and organizations in information application, service, and management, particularly their challenges in the era of globalization. The faculty in the Department thus provides our students the training on both the skills in information management and the knowledge in pratices. The objective is to empower students a second expertise that they transform from being "T" type talents with only on specialty to "π " type talents with diverse specialties.
